ST MARY’S, Convoy advanced to the quarter-finals of the Michael Murphy Sports Junior A Championship thanks to a ten-point win over Naomh Pádraig, Lifford this evening.

St Mary’s, Convoy 1-15 Naomh Pádraig, Lifford 1-5

St Mary’s had a six-point lead built up by half-time when they led 1-8 to 1-2 and Hugh Harkin’s team didn’t let it slip to score a win that sets up a quarter-final meeting with Letterkenny Gaels.

It was St Mary’s who goaled first when Anthony Browne fired home a penalty after a foul on Sean Cuddy.

Browne went onto score 1-4 while Ryan Kettle added three points to their tally.

Lifford did get a goal themselves. Paul Lynch, as he went to launch a long ball into the mixer, was fouled and Lifford worked a clever quick free. Shane Gallagher was on the end of the move and he shot home with Convoy’s defence static.
