DIVISION ONE-BOUND Milford won away at neighbours Gaeil Fhánada last night in the Donegal IFC, while Carndonagh drew with St Naul’s and Naomh Ultan drew with Cloughaneely.

Gaeil Fhánada 1-7 Milford 1-9

MILFORD TOP the group after a hard-earned derby win over Gaeil Fhánada at Triagh-A-Locha last night.

PJ Hagan’s goal early in the second half set Danny O’Donnell’s team – who were last week promoted into Division 1 of the All-County Football League – up for their second win in the Championship.

The teams were on an even keel close to half-time, but Christopher Barrett and Pauric Curley pointed before the changeover to put Milford in the driving seat, 0-6 to 0-4, at half-time.

In the opening minute of the second half, a long ball in came off the Gaeil Fhánada crossbar and Hagan finished the rebound to the net.

When Michael Sweeney rose in a crowded goalmouth to palm home a goal for the home side, it was game on, but Milford saw it out for the win.

Gaeil Fhánada scorers: Seamus ‘Nanny’ Friel 0-4, Michael Sweeney 1-0, Brian McVeigh 0-2, Niall Carr 0-1.

Milford scorers: Cathal McGettigan 0-5, PJ Hagan 1-0, David Curley, Pauric Curley, Darragh Black 0-1 each.

Carndonagh 0-10 St Naul’s 0-10

ST NAUL’S were on their way to defeat, only for late scores by Cathal Lowther and Mark Ward to get a draw in Carndonagh that puts the Mountcharles side in a position from which they should reach the quarter-finals.

Stephen Griffin was again the top marksman for St Naul’s with six points.

Carndonagh were a point up, 0-5 to 0-4, at half-time, with Ryan Davenport and Ritchie Cunningham to the fore.

Carn looked likely winners only for St Naul’s to hit back late in the day for a share of the spoils.

Carndonagh scoers: Ritchie Cunningham, Ryan Davenport, Ryan Kelly 0-2 each, Dermot McGonagle, Fergal Doherty, James McMonagle, Gerard Doherty 0-1 each.

St Naul’s scorers: Stephen Griffin 0-6, Mark Ward 0-3, Cathal Lowther 0-1.

Naomh Ultan 1-16 Cloughaneely 2-13

DERMOT Gallier’s late, late free secured a draw for Naomh Ultan at home to Cloughaneely.

Division 2 Cloughaneely led 0-10 to 1-4 at the short whistle, with Aidan Duddy’s penalty goal key for the Dunkineely men.

Twice, when John McGarvey and Sean Maguire hit goals, Cloughaneely moved firmly into command, but Naomh Ultan, who had Gallier and Cian Kennedy on form, hit back each time.

And they got their rewards when Gallier arched over a free that secured a share of the spoils.

Naomh Ultan scorers: Dermot Gallier 0-5, Aidan Duddy 1-1, Cian Kennedy 0-3, Declan Murrin 0-2, Paul Murrin, Andrew Blain, Damien Quigley, Joe Alvey, Alan Lyons 0-1 each
