ARLENE CROSSAN had to withdraw from this afternoon’s European Youth 400m hurdles semi-final after sustaining an injury in Tbilisi.

The Finn Valley AC woman picked up an injury in the warm-up to her semi-final, forcing her to pull out.

Crossan was to be in the second of today’s semi-finals.

Yesterday, the Lurgybrack resident came through her heat, finishing second in a time of 61.76 seconds, behind Lada Vondrová of Czech Republic in 61.58.

Crossan is coached by Shauna Carlin at Finn Valley and, despite being a hurdles novice, has been in superb form.

Meanwhile, Finn Valley AC colleague Janine Boyle finished in eighth spot in her 200m semi-final, meaning she bows out of the event.

Boyle finished in 25.08 seconds.

Yesterday, Lifford Strabane AC’s Brendan O’Donnell finished tenth in the final of the hammer throw, while Finn Valley’s Sommer Lecky has reached the high jump final.
