Full round-up from around the Inishowen League following some thrilling action across the peninsula this weekend.
Culdaff Res 2
Clonmany Celtic 5
Clonmany took an early lead in the 8th minute after a calamity of errors in the home defence allowed John Doherty to poke the ball into the unguarded net. Culdaff replied with Ben Curley firing over the bar before a dangerous Dermot Diver cross was well gathered and held by Kieran Friel. Clonmany doubled their lead after 34 minutes when Karol Harkin sent Brian Doherty on the right hand side and his driven effort found the bottom left hand corner past Darragh McLaughlin. Culdaff got back into the game before the interval when Mark Doherty’s driven free kick glanced off a Clonmany defender and into the top corner past Friel.Â
Culdaff pressed in the opening stages of the second period but failed to create any clear chances with Philip Devlin and Paul McLaughlin marshalling the visitors defence. Clonmany then increased their lead after McLaughlin failed to collect a long ball forward and substitute Alan Friel was on hand to drill home on 66 minutes. Clonmany sealed the tie on 78minutes when Neil Grant found Paul McLaughlin inside the area and he fired to the top corner from ten yards.
Culdaff rallied and reduced the deficit when a Damien Duffy free deflected into the path of Mark Doherty who finished well past Friel from fifteen yards. But Clonmany had the last say after Gerard McDaid was upenlded in the area and Raymond McDaid converted to make the final score five two.

Redcastle broke the deadlock on 4 minutes when Shane Bonner made a great run on the right wing and crossed for Terry McColgan who headed it to the bottom right corner of the net from 10 yards. Redcastle doubled their lead on 12 minutes after back pass to Carn keeper Kyle Harkin was intercepted by McColgan who slotted to the bottom left corner of the net from 13 yards. Carn had the chance to pull one back on 22 minutes when following some goalmouth action involving Joe McKinney who squared it for Aaron McCarron and he laid it off for Cian Burke who shot low and wide from 10 yards. Redcastle made it three on 25 minutes when Aidan Farren advanced on left wing and when his cross rebounded off the keeper Darren Davenport was there to slot it home from 12 yards to the net.
Carn nearly got on the score sheet on 30 minutes when Aaron McCarron broke on the right wing and crossed for Dion Diver who shot over the bar from 10 yards. Carn had the first chance of the second half when Diver managed to break on the right and crossed for McKinney who shot from 10 yards. Carn pulled one back on 61 minutes after a McKinney through ball found Cian Burke who rounded the defender and slotted the ball past Paul Doherty from 10 yards.
Carn missed a golden chance on 71 minutes when McKinney was brought down in the penalty area but Diver hit the resulting penalty over the bar. Carn got their second goal after Burke broke on the right wing and crossed it for Diver who drove a powerful shot past Doherty to the top of the net from 10 yards.
Carn nearly got the equalizer three minutes from the end when sub Ronan Donegan broke on the right wing and squared it for Callum Crumlish who who failed to hit the target from eight yards.
Moville Res 4

Moville kept their title challenge on track and dominated large parts of this game. On 11 minutes Eoin Mclaughlin broke forward but saw his effort well saved by Graham Doherty. Moville went close again midway through the half after John McGeady squared for Danny Murphy whose effort crashed off the post for Christy McGeoghaghan to see his rebound come off the bar. They broke the deadlock on 28 minutes after a Finn McLaughlin cross found McGeoghaghan to slot home from close range. On 40 minutes they doubled their lead when Murphy was upended and Doherty converted low to the bottom left hand corner. Moville kept the pressure up on the restart with Nick Mahon seeing a header come off the post. Illies had a long range Liam O Connor effort crash off the bar on 65 minutes. Minutes later Joe Mclaughlin was clear but home keeper Ryan Coyle superbly tipped the ball round the post. Moville made it three nil on 74 minutes after Conor Lafferty crossed for Murphy to slot home from six yards. Illies tried to hot back and Gareth Gallagher had a shot saved by Coyle but Illies were dealt a real blow then when they were reduced to ten men after James Downey received a second yellow card. Moville completed the scoring on 83 minutes when Lafferty collected the ball on the edge of the box and lobbed Doherty from the edge of the area.

Carrowmena FC 0
An understrength Carrowmena team were shown no mercy by the home side who raced into a five goal lead after fifteen minutes. Cockhill imposed themselves on this game right from the off taking the lead on 5 minutes when Barney Gubbins fed Shay McLaughlin in on goal who showed great composure to finish well low past Carrowmena’s young keeper, Brian Houghton. Moments later it was two nil, Kevin McDaid scored after being set up by Cian Downey to increase Cockhill’s early advantage. Relentless early pressure from Cockhill continued and it was three nil shortly after some good work by Kevin McDaid and Shay McLaughlin setting up John Grant to score past Houghton from 12 yards. Moments later John Grant got his second to make it 4 nil with another fine finish. Ryan McDaid made it five nil after some more excellent play from Shay McLaughlin who found Ryan McDaid coming in at the back post to finish well giving Brian Houghton in the Carrowmena goal no chance. Ryan McDaid then turned provider returning the favour setting up Shay McLaughlin for his second of the match to make it six for Cockhill. Cockhill were awarded a penalty giving Shay McLaughlin the chance for hishat-trick but he was denied by a superb save from Brian Houghton. Carrowmena started to find a foothold in the match and nearly pulled one back just before half time. Gerard Gill found some space just outside the box and his fine strike sailed just over the bar. Cockhill started the second half in the same manner as the first with early pressure paying off. Mark Gillespie set up Damien Friel to score high in to the net past Houghton to make it seven nil. Paul Duffy came close for Cockhill, turning his man inside out before curling a great effort narrowly wide. Cockhill continued to press and Kevin McDaid scored his second of the match with a fine volley from a breaking ball to give Houghton no chance. More good play down the right saw Mark Gillespie turn provider again when his deep cross found Barney Gubbins free at the back post to bullet a header past Houghton. Cockhill’s Ryan Downey almost scored a contender for goal of the season when his 30 yard effort hit the bar. The scoring was complete when Wes Doherty found space in the Carrowmena box with a fine finish from 12 yards out to give Cockhill a well earned win.

Clonmany started the better and Mark Kelly had a fine effort well saved low to his right by Ryan Fox The visitors took the lead midway through the half after David McGonigle cut inside past two defenders before slotting low past Fox to the bottom corner. Aileach upped the pace in the second half and equalised on 55 minutes when Michael Morrison crossed for Darren Bradley to head to the top corner from eight yards past Tiernan Doherty. The home side took the lead on 72minutes when Bradley scored again with another header at the back post from a Callum Porter cross. Clonmany responded with Darragh Doherty breaking clear but over hit the ball allowing Fox to advance and gather. Aileach sealed the points on 85 minutes after Brendan Hegarty played a one two with Aaron Doherty before rounding the keeper to slot home. Clonmany had the last chance of the game but McGonigle fired over from just inside the area.

Dunree Res 4
Rasheney went close early on after a Caylum Long effort went narrowly wide. But the visitors hit back on 7 minutes and opened the scoring         when Bryce Fullerton sidefooted home a Marty McDermott cross. Midway through the half they doubled their lead when  Tommy Doherty fired an angled shot across Roger McGilloway to the far corner from twenty five yards. McGilloway done well then to push away a Ryan O Donnell effort.
Rasheney ended the half strongly with Rian Diver firing into the side netting before Long in a one on one fired over and then fired just wide in a crowded penalty area. Dunree had the first chance of the second half after a Neil Moran effort flashed just wide before the same player had another shot blocked but the ball fell to Tommy Doherty who slotted low past McGilloway from twelve yards.
Raheney replied with Alan Doherty squaring to Long who sidestepped a defender and fired just over the bar. The home side got a goal back when Kevin Noone fired low past Philip Doherty from the penalty spot after a handball in the area. But Dunree added a fourth on 78 minutes substitute Sean Henderson fed another sub Ryan Toland on the left and his low cross was swept home by Ryan O Donnell . The final action saw a Neil Moran cross glance off the face of the crossbar before being cleared.
