THE INISHOWEN LADIES LEAGUE is now in full swing with action in all the divisions and age grades – here’s how this week’s games panned out:

U14 Girls: Clonmany Shamrocks 1-0 Sea Rovers

A CLOSE game played under very warm conditions in Shamrock Park with only one goal separating the teams.

Clonmany started the first half well with good pressure coming from Aimee Porter who swung in some good crosses but Roisín McGonigle defended well at the heart of the Sea Rovers defence.

Sea Rovers gradually found their footing with good build up play coming from Sophie Murphy and Shauna Ruddy in the middle of the park but Clonmany’s defence stayed firm.

The best chance of the half fell to Clonmany with a threw ball that Erin McLaughlin (Fildara) raced on to ending up one on one with the keeper who pulled off a great save. Sea Rovers responded well with Sophie Murphy just going wide with a great strike.
Early in the second half Sea Rovers nearly had the lead with Kate McCallion being released in on goal but Megan McDaid pulled off two very good saves.

Both defences were being tested especially when Breanna Duffy of the Clonmany defence had to deny Ciara Houghton of being one-on-one with the keeper.

Clonmany started to up the tempo mid way through the second half and the pressure paid off when they won a corner that Erin McLaughlin swung into Katelyn McDaid (Hecklar) who laid it off to Katherine Doherty (Lackin) who fired a low hard shot into the corner of the net.

Both teams had chances with Elaine McLaughlin bombing down Sea Rovers right wing and with Katelyn McDaid responding for Clonmany with a shot just over the bar. Clonmany held out for the win.

Brianna Doherty had a long range shot but failed to find the net, Moville broke therebuncrana defence when Erin seen her shot save from Buncrana.

DESPITE Greencastle being two players down the first twenty minutes of this game was an equal contested affair, with both teams having chances.

Greencastle’s Megan Havlin saw her attack go wide while QPS player Siuin Lafferty’s shot was handled well by keeper Jessica Moore.

QPS took the lead shortly before half time when a good pass from Saoirse McEleney found Grace McColgan who hit the target.
Greencastle started the second half well but good defence work by Shauna McGonagle and Emma McCallion seen off any potential danger.

QPS really started to settle into game and got their second when good work from Mariah and Grace McColgan seen the ball end up in front of the net and Saoirse Mc Eleney managed to get it over the line.

McEleney hit the target again five mins later to put the home side three up. The QPS girls kept the pressure on which forced some good play from Greencastle’s Aisling McLaughlin and Ellen Hegarty.

Mariah McColgans made it four for the Point despite the best effort from the Greencastle keeper.

Grace McColgan was unlucky not to get a second when her shot hit the side netting. At other end of Pitch Megan Havlin forced a fine save from Georgia Rudden.
