A HIGH-POWERED delegation from the Irish Amateur Boxing Association will be in Lifford next Wednesday when the Donegal County Council honours boxer Jason Quigley.

The 24-year-old Ballybofey man is being accorded with a Civic Reception in recognition of his exploits as an amateur boxer in 2013 when he won a European gold and World silver medal.

Quigley has since turned professional and moved to Los Angeles. As part of the Golden Boy stable in L.A, Quigley is now 9-0 in the pro ranks following his latest win, against Marchristopher Adkins in Las Vegas.

The local authority is honouring Quigley next Wednesday at a function in the County House in Lifford.

IABA President Pat Ryan, CEO Fergal Carruth and National Registrar Stephen Connolly will be among the gathering, as will the Ulster Boxing Council President and Secretary, Paul McMahon and Sadie Duffy.

Before winning his European Gold in Minsk, where he defeated Romania’s Bogdan Juratoni, Quigley won the 2013 Irish senior title and it is hoped that other boxers who won senior titles with Donegal clubs will be in attendance next week: Paddy Doherty, Brian Anderson senior, Eamonn Coyle, Danny Ryan, Willie McLaughlin and Tyrone McCullagh.
