How one Finn Harps fan was given a big surprise by player to cap ‘best ever’ win

FINN HARPS FANATIC FRANK LARKIN got the surprise of his life last night when defender Damien McNulty gave him his SSE Airtricity League of Ireland First Division runners-up medal.

48 hours after Harps won promotion thanks to their dramatic play-off win over Limerick FC, the club held its end-of-season awards night at McGettigan’s in Letterkenny.

Team manager Ollie Horgan presented his players with their League runners-up medals. Larkin was speechless when McNulty handed him the silvered piece (pictured above).

The 44-year-old Letterkenny man is a wheelchair user who has Spina-Bifida and watches each home game from his regular spot in the Finn Park clubhouse.

“I have been watching Harps for around 40 years now and Friday night was the best ever,” Larkin said.

“It was just electric. One minute we were heading for penalties and the next we were heading for the Premier Division.”

The pair have become good friends over the last couple of seasons and one of the McNulty’s first stops after every home game is with Larkin, who is Harps’ Disability Access Officer.

“Frank deserves a medal for his loyal support of the club – people like him are the real reason Finn Harps is a special club,” McNulty said.
