DONEGAL’S HURLERS will have a home semi-final in the Nicky Rackard Cup, the Central Competitions Controls Committee (CCCC) has confirmed.

On Saturday-week, May 21, Donegal will welcome Mayo to O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny (throw-in 3.30pm).

Ardal McDermott’s team have had a mixed campaign so far in 2016.

After being relegated from Division 2B following a play-off defeat by Roscommon, Donegal were beaten 2-19 to 3-13 by Armagh in their Nicky Rackard Cup opener at the Athletic Grounds.

St Eunan’s Sean McVeigh bagged a hat-trick of goals that day, but Donegal were gunned down by sharper Armagh.

They regrouped to defeat Fermanagh 3-15 to 3-11 in Letterkenny. Despite having Justin McGhee sent off in the first half, goals from McVeigh, Kevin Campbell and Ciaran Matthewson steered them to victory.

On Saturday, in a quarter-final at Inniskeen, goals by Matthewson, Lee Henderson, Ronan McDermott and Campbell shot Donegal to a 4-14 to 3-14 win over Monaghan.

While Donegal meet Mayo, Fingal will face Armagh in the other semi-final.
