Raphoe Ladies were looking to build off the back of their impressive displays in recent weeks with another emphatic victory over Armagh in east Donegal.

Raphoe 6 Armagh 1

Report from Charlie Collins at Royal and Prior School grounds in Raphoe.

Having gone 10 games unbeaten prior to Saturday’s fixture, Richard Tinney’s side wanted to maintain their lead at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Goals from the brilliant Wendy Patterson (2), Leanne Patterson (2), Lisa Patterson and Rebecca Wauchope was enough to earn them maximum points on the day.

The Ladies started at a swift pace and as they overwhelmed the Armagh defence they snatched the lead after 10 minutes.

The phenomenal Wendy Patterson was on the ascendency to assist Lisa Patterson who made no mistake in front of goals. Brilliant exchange of passing from Raphoe.

After 22 minutes, Raphoe earned their second as they scampered on the counter-attack down the right-hand side.

Brilliant integrate play from Tinney’s outfit saw Rebecca Wauchope hammer one home from close range.

Raphoe took real charge from there and they all but ended the game with their third goal just before the interval.

The Ladies produced more good build-up play before Leanne Patterson retrieved the ball inside the circle with her back to goal.

The Raphoe attacker produced an excellent turn before finishing into the bottom corner. Vintage for Tinney’s Raphoe.

In the second half, Raphoe Ladies continued their dominance despite Armagh pulling one back.

After a period of immense pressure, Raphoe added their fourth through Wendy Patterson for her first of the game.

A defensive mix-up in the Raphoe box caused Armagh to snatch a goal of their own after 52 minutes and rid the Donegal Ladies of their clean sheet.

However, their conviction going forward was never in question and their fifth and sixth goals coming through Wendy Patterson, for her second of the contest, and Leanne Patterson was enough to seal another victory.

Team: Heather Humphrey, Arlyne Kilparick, Sabrina Barnett (Captain), Victoria Wray, Janice Nelson, Zara Tinney, Lyndsey Tinney, Wendy Patterson, Lisa Patterson, Leanne Patterson, Lisa Smyth, Katy Love, Julie Wilson, Sarah McErlean, Jasmine Tinney, Rebecca Wauchope, Amy Wauchope and Catherine Mahaffey.
