LETTERKENNY Cricket Club claimed a historic win in the Qualifying 2 T20 Cup final on Sunday.

Letterkenny Cricket Club, which was formed for the 2019 season, won its first ever silverware, beating Sion Mills in the final at Burndennett.

Letterkenny batted first and set a tally of 153 for the loss of eight wickets and they managed to put Sion all out for 112.

Letterkenny were led by the experience of Rammohan Goud, who posted 38 runs while Deepak Swain helped himself to 34.

Opening batsman Raghu Velagapudi scored 17 runs before he was bowled out.

Wasiq Riaz’s 11 helped Letterkenny – who had a strong 65-run stand between Goud and Swain – make 153.

Sion began well, but Andy Lucas was bowled out by Swain and Lee Finlay made 43 runs before he was caught off the bowl of Goud.

Riaz and Goud impressed with the ball, figures of 4-21 and 2-15 helping to keep Sion at bay.

Goud put Glen McCallan out to end the game and he was presented with the Jim McGranaghan award for Man of the Match.
