“He’s going to be an absolute beast” – Jason Quigley gets all clear on injured hand

Jason Quigley has been given the green light to resume full contact punching with his right hand after a ‘one in 10 million’ injury earlier this year.

The Donegal middleweight suffered the injury on his way to winning the NABF middleweight title in March and has been out of action since.

Quigley shredded tendons in his wrist and broke the right hand during his title shot against Glen Tapia at Fantasy Springs and needed to have surgery to repair the damage.

The Ballybofey man (13-0, 10KO) had hoped to get back in action last month but, such was the severity of the damage, the hand had to be kept in a protective sleeve.

This afternoon, Dr David Kulber, the world’s leading orthopedic hand surgeon, at the Cedar Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, gave Quigley the all clear.

Quigley was in Las Vegas for the middleweight super fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin on Saturday night and will now ease himself back to action again after a frustrating six months of inactivity.

“Yesterday’s news from Dr. Kulber was fantastic and just what we wanted to hear,” said his publicist, Rachel Charles, of Sheer Sports Management.

“Jason has been through a lot with this injury and through it all has maintained a positive attitude.

“For someone to sustain a 1-10 million injury like he did was shocking but there was no doubt he’d beat it. He’s going to be an absolute beast when he get those gloves back on.”

Quigley had his own way of announcing the news via Twitter:
