SO, THAT’S THAT.

The group stages of the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure Donegal SFC are now completed and here’s what lies in wait. The draw for the quarter-finals will be made tomorrow, Monday, at county committee.

The quarter-finals are set for the weekend of Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25, with the semi-finals two weeks later and the final on Sunday, October 16.

Group A

Michael Murphy was back in the Glenswilly team today as his side roared to the top of Group A with a 3-12 to 0-7 win in Bundoran. Murphy scored a penalty either side of Gary McFadden and Darren McGinley goals.

Michael Canning’s side will be joined in the last eight by Dungloe, who had a dramatic 0-17 to 2-9 win over Ardara, who are destined for the relegation play-off. Dungloe goalkeeper Ciaran Sharkey saved an injury time penalty from Gareth Concarr to give Tony Boyle’s team a place in the hat.

Group B

Kilcar and St Eunan’s finished off things level on five points apiece but it will be Martin McHugh’s team who progress as group winners as a consequence of their better scoring difference following a 0-24 to 0-7 win in Killybegs. The Fintra side will, like last year, have to play for their lives now at senior level.

Meanwhile, in Dunfanaghy, St Eunan’s ended St Michael’s championship hopes for the third year in  succession. In an entertaining contest, the side managed by David McGinley came out on top on a 3-14 to 2-14 scoreline.
