Harry Doherty ends his spell at Crusaders

GOALKEEPER HARRY Doherty has left Crusaders, the Irish League club has announced.

The Inishowen man and midfielder Ryan Nimick were released from their respective contracts yesterday evening.

Doherty, a former youth player at Charlton Athletic and Brighton, had signed a two-year contract at Seaview in June 2018.

In May, Doherty played in Crusaders’ 3-0 win over Ballinamallard in the Irish Cup final at Windsor Park. Doherty deputised for injured number 1 Gerard Doherty and kept a clean sheet.

Doherty was at Finn Harps and Carrick Rangers before joining Crusaders.

“Thanks to Crusaders for my time there, wish the club all the best this season and in the future,” Doherty said on Twitter.

Crusaders said in a statement: “Goalkeeper Harry Doherty and Midfielder Ryan Nimick have both been released from their contracts with immediate effect and can now seek other clubs.

“Crusaders Football Club would like to put on record their appreciation and thanks to both Harry and Ryan for their time at the the Club and wish them the best in the future both personally and in their careers.”
