DALE GORMAN was sent off as Northern Ireland lost 2-1 this afternoon in their opening Euro 2017 Under-21 qualifier against Scotland in Lurgan.

The Letterkenny native (pictured above), who is on the books of Stevenage FC, picked up a second yellow card on 56 minutes with the score at 1-1.

Mikhail Kennedy put Northern Ireland 1-0 up on seven minutes but Scotland, who are managed by former Sundeland boss Ricky Sbragia, levelled through Celtic’s new signing Ryan Christie on 33 minutes.

Scotland went in front on 61 minutes when Ryan Fraser, who is on loan at Ipswich Town from Bournemouth, scored.

Former Kildrum Tigers’ striker Michael Duffy – currently on loan at Alloa Athletic from Celtic – started for Northern Ireland, who will be without the suspended Gorman for Tuesday’s fixture in Iceland.
