CHRISTOPHER McCallion took the Buncrana Amateur Boxing Club Open Stableford last weekend with a fantastic score of 43 points.

Christopher is playing some tremendous golf at present and Sunday was no exception with Christopher shooting a tremendous round of 4 under gross to give him his winning total of 43 points.

Christopher now sees his handicap reduced to 2 and if he continues to play the golf he is producing at present he could well achieve 1 before the end of the year.

The full results of the Buncrana Amateur Boxing Cub Open Stableford are as follows; 1st Christopher Mc Callion (3) 43 points, Brian Bradley (11) 42 points, Gross Ciaran Bradley (3) 65 gross b.o.t., 3rd Ryan Mc Hugh (8) 42 points, Visitor James Mc Ghee (12) 41 points, Best Day (Sat) Ferdia O’ Flaherty (13) 41 points and Back 9 Paul Eccles (16) 22 points b.o.t. CSS – 65 / 37 points

Michael Van Dessel Wins the W. P. McCarter Memorial Cup
The mid-week competition this week was the long running WP McCarter Memorial Cup sponsored by the McCarter Family. With a good crowd turning out for this popular annual competition, combined with the inclement weather conditions and lush rough, it was going to take a good round of golf to take the honours and Michael Van Dessel (11) was the man to provide such a round.

Hitting form again over these past few weeks, it was only a matter of time before Michael was in the winner’s enclosure. Michael started off brightly and with a +2 (35) Gross front 9 holes for 22 points, he was off to a flyer and played a nice steady back 9 for a further 20 points for his winning total of 42points.

Michael now becomes the 56th winner of the WP McCarter Memorial Cup, which was first played for way back in 1946.

One point behind Michael was Ciaran Mc Ateer (13) and Fiachra O’Flaherty (5) who both tied with 41 points, Ciaran pipping Fiachra to second place thanks to his superior back 9 holes. Luke Bradley took the gross prize with superb -2 Gross (64). Brendan Murphy took the best day with (Thursday) with 39points and James Caldwell took the back 9 with 21points. Full results as follows: First Michael Van Dessel (11) 42 points, second Ciaran Mc Ateer (13) 41points.b.o.t. Gross Luke Bradley (2) 64 gross, 3rd Fiachra O’Flaherty (5) 41points, Best Day Brendan Murphy (8) 39points and Back 9 James Caldwell (12) 21points – CSS 38points (64)
