Glenfin strike late in the day to grind out useful win over Naomh Muire

Glenfin had to work very hard to earn the points against Naomh Muire in this Division 2 league tie in Pairc Tabhoige.

It was Naomh Muire that started the better and were three points up after seven minutes with Dara White, Harry Harden and Sean Yank Boyle getting the scores.

Gerard Ward scored two for Glenfin to put just one point between the sides, but Shaun Yank Boyle scored another for Naomh Muire to put them three up again before Gerard Ward scored his thurd after 23 minutes to bring it back to a one point game again.

Naomh Muire registered two more points in the 26th and 30th minute a free from Jack Boyle and another from Shaun Yank Boyle to put three between the sides with half time looming.

Michael McGlynn levelled the game with a fine goal with the last kick of the first half to leave the score Glenfin 1-3 Naomh Muire 0-6.

Glenfin got a goal with their first attack of the second half, a high ball into the Naomh Muire square and Stephen McGlynn got his fist to it to put Glenfin three points up.

Kevin McGlynn added a point and Darragh White got a point for Naomh Muire to bring it back to 3 but Jason Marley scored a fine point in the 37th minute to put Glenfin back in command.

Naomh Muire took over then for 10 minutes and scored 1-2 the goal coming from Shaun Yank Boyle and points from Harry Harden and Adi O Gara to put Naomh Muire up by one point on a score of 2-5 to 1-9.

Jason Morrow levelled the game with 10 minutes left. Gerard Ward put Glenfin back in the lead with a point and then Naomh Muire took control again two points from Harry Harden and one from Shaun Yank Boyle to put them twi up with time nearly up.

Glenfin attacked once more and Michael McGlynn was fouled in the square and Gerard Ward converted the penalty to put Glenfin one point up with 33 minutes played.

From the kick out Naomh Muire fouled on the 45-metre line and Conor McBride stepped up and finished the scoring with a fine point to leave the final score Glenfin 3-8 Naomh Muire 1-12.
