The Glencar Inn held it’s most prestigious outing of the season on Saturday last, 26th September, with Mr. Sean Gilroy’s Captain’s Day.

Playing on the most scenic and luscious parkland course in Donegal, Letterkenny Golf Club, it was the long hitting Eddie Margey who produced the winning score. Chipping in to a close second was short game specialist Kieran Sweeney while the cautious Michael Mc Elhinney was third.

The category prizes on the day were collected by Charlie Mc Laughlin & Shane Gallagher [cat 1], Kenny Chambers & Paddy Mc Cafferty [cat 2], Mark Ponsonby, Paidin Kavanagh & Brian Carney [cat 3], James Mc Daid [Doc] & Marty Devlin [cat 4]. Visitors prize went to Gabriel Mc Nulty while M.P.O’Donnell, & Eddie O’Donnell picked up ‘2’s.  Michael O’ Malley recorded a unique ‘double’, winning both the Nearest the Pin & Longest Drive prizes while Martin Kelly won the Past Captains’ prize.

Thanks to Derek and Marty for the music in the Glencar Inn afterwards, thanks to the Kitchen for the Burgers on the 10th Hole, and overall many thanks to our Captain – Sean Gilroy, for a job well done.  Thanks also to Letterkenny Golf Club for the use of the club on such a busy day.

Our next outing will be to Ballyliffen on Sunday 11th October, tee off 10.30. Anyone wishing to play, text Sean, or register your name in Glencar Inn.
