ARDARA PRODUCED A heroic comeback to stun their hosts Bundoran today and take two valuable league points in their quest for Division 1 survival.

Realt na Mara 2-13 Ardara 4-8

By Noel Carr

A Gareth Concarr 45-metre free three minutes into injury time sailed the whole way to the Bundoran net gave the visitors a priceless win and broke  the hearts of the Seasiders.

It all looked so positive for the  men in black and amber as they led for the entire game until Concarr’s wonderful strike.

Bundoran started strongly and led 1-2 to no score after seven minutes with points from Alan Russell and Tommy Hourihane and a well finished goal from Shane McGowan.

On eight minutes, Ardara registered their first score from the penalty spot with Concarr’s effort clipping the post on the way in.

Then four unanswered points from Russell, James Keaney, Shane Moohan and a Hourihane free gave the home side a 1-6  to 1-0 lead after 18 minutes.

Paul Watters and Russell exchanged scores before a Concarr free left the halftime score  Realt na Mara 1-7 Ardara 1-2.

Michael McEniff hit the first score of the second half but aided with a strong breeze the Ardara men hit three points without reply from Brendan McNelis and two from Concarr.

Bundoran then replied with points from Russell and Hourihane. A high dropping ball into the Bundoran goalmouth was batted away by goalkeeper Kelvin Mulhern but Kieran Breslin was quickest to react and he blasted to the corner of the net.

Another Watters point left it a two-point game with 10 minutes left on the clock. Bundoran responded with two quickfire McEniff points and then they seemed to have the points wrapped up when half back Johnny Boyle  hit a marvellous  shot to the roof of the Ardara net with only four remaining.

Ardara, who felt they were on the receiving end of some questionable second half refereeing calls, never gave up and to their credit they produced an amazing finish.

Firstly a Peter McHugh point was soon followed by a Kevin Whyte goal.

Another Watters point left it a two-point game before Concarr’s wonderful effort deep into injury time sealed a memorable win for the men in green and gold.
