Gaoth Dobhair stay top of Division 1 following win over Dungloe

GAOTH DOBHAIR RAN out easy winners in this Division 1 clash played in Magheragallon today in a game that was fired up from the throw in.

Indeed referee Michael McShane had to issue a few stern warnings in the early minutes of the first half with both Eamon and Neil McGee being yellow carded.

Gaoth Dobhar started impressively and were 2-2 to 0-1 ahead after 12 minutes. Gavin McBride hit the first point in the first minute and this was quickly followed by a goal from Noel Kelly, before Kevin Cassidy pointed on five minutes.

It was Kelly again on nine minutes who finished to the back of the Dungloe net.

Martin Redmond struck a fine free against the breeze on 12 minutes for the visitors to get their first score.  

Ryan Greene pointed from a free on 14 minutes but two Gavin McBride frees kept the home side in front as the half enetered the final 10 minutes. Martin Redmond then pointed from a dead ball.

ODonnells Crolly


McBride and Daire Ó Baoill finished the first half scoring the leave it Gaoth Dobhar 2-6 Dungloe 0-3.

Micheal Carroll had the first chance of the second half but was denied a goal by Danny Rodgers in the Dungloe nets.

It was 14 minutes before the first score of the second half was registered a point by Kevin Cassidy and then on 49 minutes Cian Mulligan sealed the game for the home side firing past Rodgers.

Three quick points from Adrian Sweeney was to be the visitors’ only scores of the second half.  McBride, Cassidy and Niall Friel pointed for Gaoth Dobhar late on.
