Gaoth Dobhair have the edge on Dungloe in tight derby

GAOTH DOBHAIR overcame derby foes Dungloe by a narrow margin at Rosses Park this afternoon.

Gavin McBride and Cian Mulligan had the visitors on the score sheet after four minutes before Gerard Walsh pointed for the home side.

Eoin Ward put the visitors in front again before points from Noel McBride, Adrian Sweeney had the game level.

Conor Boyle hit two more points for Gaoth Dobhar (1f) while Ryan Greene (f) and Eoin Ward traded points before Ryan Greene hit the game’s first goal, running on to an assist from full forward Ciaran Sharkey.

Eoin Ward kept the visitors in touch before half time and Noel McBride pointed to put Dungloe 1-5 to 0-7 ahead at half-time.

From the throw in Michael Carroll (pictured) had the ball in the back of the Dungloe net to take the lead for his side once again.

Adrian Sweeney pointed at the other end of the field.

Cian Muilligan and Dungloe’s Ciaran Sharkey traded points to leave one between the sides again.

It was end to end stuff with Conor Boyle and Ryan Connors pointing for their respective teams.

Odhran Mac Niallais pointed for the visitors and Carroll had to watch his goal chance blast across the goals wide after running through the Dungloe defence.

Ciaran Sharkey in his new role pointed for Dungloe on 41 minutes before Cian Mulligan, Eoin Ward and two Mac Niallais frees put the visitors five ahead.

As the game entered the final quarter Sharkey struck a fine 45 qucikly followed by points from Darren Curran and substitute Alan Rodgers to reduce the margin to two again.

Donal Gallagher and a Cian Mulligan free put four between the sides with five minutes to go.
