Gairmscoil Chú Uladh is the winner of the Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure School Stars’ Award for this term.

Located in the Donegal Gaeltacht Centre, near Fintown, the school was commended for a number of national recognitions and awards. The Donegal captain made a surprise visit to the school to present the pupils with a training kit to the value of €250, courtesy of the Letterkenny sports shop.

Nominated by their teacher, Aoife Nash, Gairmscoil Chú Uladh was awarded an ‘Active School and Healthy Schools Flag’ in 2016; the school also won the All-Ireland Sky Sports Award in the same year. In September 2016, Gairmscoil Chú Uladh was shortlisted in the top three schools in Ireland for an Active European Schools Award.

Thanking Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure for the training kit, teacher Aoife Nash said: “We’re absolutely delighted to win this term’s MMS School Stars Award. The students loved meeting Michael and the school will certainly make great use of all the training gear.”

Congratulating Gairmscoil Chú Uladh on winning, Michael Murphy said: “Well done to all the pupils in Gairmscoil Chú Uladh on their many great achievements.  It was lovely to meet the students and teachers, who deserve some recognition for all their hard work.”
