THERE WAS A fundraising 5k in Milford last night for Olympic walker Brendan Boyce.

The Letterkenny AC member is headed for Rio this summer and there was a healthy turnout in his hometown.

The race was won by Ciaran Doherty from Letterkenny Athletic Club emphatically, with a time of 15 minutes and 54 seconds.

In second place was Kevin Logue with a 17 minutes and three seconds with Rosses Athletic Club’s Noel Diver in third place, 10 seconds behind Logue.

Gillian Marley from Milford Athletic Club won the women’s event, with 20:26.
