Four Masters keep up their promotion push with home win over Malin

FOUR MASTERS RECORDED a big win over Malin at Tir Chonaill Park today to take another step towards a return to Division 1 of the AllSportsStore.com All-County Football League.

Four Masters 2-15 Malin 1-8

Masters took control early on with two points from Emmet Doogan and Sean Meehan to set the ball rolling and putting Malin on the back foot early on in the opening five minutes.

Malin replied with a long-range point from half back Kieran McColgan, but Malin never pushed on from this.

With warm conditions and a free-flowing match, Masters began to dominate the first half with scores from Darren Doherty, Luke Keeney, Patrick Reid and Sean O’Kennedy.

Trailing by five Malin responded with two points from the speedy and strong half forward presence of Stephen McLoughan and Dan McDaid.

A superb style of hardworking football occurred after a Four Masters kick out resulted in a darting run from Sean Meehan allowed him to pop the ball inside to Emmet Doogan who fisted the ball across the box to the towering full forward presence of Dillion Muldoon who only had to palm the ball home into the net.

This left the score 1-6 to 0-3 with five minutes left in the first half.

Scores from Danny McGarrigle, Darren Doherty, and Barry Monaghan look to seal the first half win by nine points until one final attack from Malin resulted in a goal when Dan McDaid sent a long, high ball into Seamus Houghton which allowed him to punch the ball into the net.

This ended the first on a score of 1-9 to 1-3.

Malin took grasp of the match early in the second half, capitalising early with scores from Paul McLoughan, Stephen McLoughan and Gary Farren.

It took Four Masters 14 minutes to get on the score sheet but eased their way to victory from their with points from Keeney, Meehan, McDaid and substitute Caolan Loughney.

A rebounded goal in the 52nd minute from the lively half forward Darren Doherty ended the match with a ten-point victory for the Donegal Town men.
