Former Finn Harps player Shaun Williams scored his first goal for the Republic of Ireland tonight, but they lost 4-1 to Wales in the UEFA Nations League.
Williams, now playing with Millwall, gave Ireland back a goal after the boys in green fell 4-0 behind.
Williams netted in the 66th minute after robbing Aaron Ramsey in possession.
Tom Lawrence, Gareth Bale, Ramsey and Connor Roberts netted to get Ryan Giggs’ Welsh tenure off to a winning start in Cardiff.
Williams neatly finished for his first international goal, but it was to be a mere footnote in the tale.
The 31-year-old Williams only made his debut earlier this year in a friendly against France in Paris.
Williams played for Harps in 2008 when Paul Hegarty recruited him on loan from Drogheda United.
Williams subsequently signed for Sporting Fingal and joined MK Dons in 2011. He has been with Millwall since January 2014.
