Michael Duffy hopes to continue his, and Dundalk’s, good form tomorrow night when the Lilywhites host Finn Harps in the FAI Senior Cup.
The Premier Division leaders will be overwhelming favourites to overcome in-form First Division side Harps at Oriel Park having won 13 straight games in the top flight.
Duffy netted one of the goals in Monday’s 2-0 win at Sligo Rovers.
“We expect a very tough game and Finn Harps are going to be hard to break down but we are in good form at the minute,” said Duffy.
Duffy hit the opener in the first half for his tenth League goal of the season.
Duffy moved to Dundalk from Celtic, who had recruited him from Derry City. The attacker spent a large portion of his schoolboy days at Kildrum Tigers and has strong family connections in St Johnston.
Of Monday’s win, Duffy said: “I knew it was going to be tough and I was just waiting on the space to open up to try and bend the shot. I’ve tried that a few times this year and it hasn’t come off for me so I’m delighted that it went in.
“It was a tough game but we knew it was always going to be because Sligo is never an easy place to go to.”
Dundalk are top of the pile and, as well as his 10 goals, Duffy has a whopping 20 assists to his name.
He added: “It feels good to be at the top of the table. It’s not going to be an easy run in, every game is going to be massive now but as long as we stay on top it’s in our hands.
“We’ve been brilliant in the league for the last couple of months and we just need to keep that going until the end of the season then we’ll win the league.”
