Chloe and Sam Magee have booked a place in the mixed doubles final at the FZ Forza Irish Open.

The Magees defeated Adam Hall and Ciara Torrance from Scotland 21-12 21-12 in their semi-final at  the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena.

The Raphoe siblings won the first game 21-12 and were in good form for the most part.

In the second game, the Magees hit five points in a row to roar 15-8 ahead and they were never in any danger.

Hall and Torrance did erode the deficit a little, but the Magees were within touching distance and made no mistake, Chloe landing the game and match-winning point for a 21-12 success again.

Hall and Torrance had to come through the qualifying rounds to get this far, but they defeated Denmark’s Emil Lauritzen and Elisa Melgaard 21-16 21-17, England’s third seeds Matthew Clare and Victoria Williams 21-14 19-21 21-16 and France’s William Villeger and Anne Tran 21-14 21-15.

In their quarter-final this morning, the Magees overcame Polish pair Milosz Bochat and Aneta Wojtkowska in straight games 21-14 21-14.

That followed wins over Mathias Moldt Baskjaer and Janne Kornum, 21-16 21-15, and Scottish duo Alexander Dunn and Eleanor O’Donnell 21-5 18-21 21-15, yesterday.

Also yesterday, Joshua Magee, in the men’s singles, lost to Kai Schaefer 17-21 21-15 18-21.

Rachael Darragh and Paul Reynolds were beaten 21-9 9-21 10-21 by Andreas Sondergaard and Malene Kaeseler, while Darragh lost out in the women’s singles to Li Lian Yang 21-14 21-15.
