THE SCHEDULE FOR the 2016 county final weekend of Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta has been confirmed by the organisers.

The county finals this year are being hosted by Naomh Conaill, who happen to be the reigning Donegal and All-Ireland champions at senior level in the competition.

The weekend gets started on Friday, April 29 with a Céilí Mór in the Glenties community centre at 9pm.

On Sunday, the Junior and Intermediate finals of the ladies competition will be played at the Comprehensive School pitch.

At 3pm Naomh Muire take on Gaeil Fhánada in the junior final with Ardara playing St Naul’s at 4.30pm.

Naomh Conaill, under the charge of Martin Doherty and Martin Regan, have qualified automatically for the weekend and they play Dungloe on Sunday evening, May 1, at 6pm in the second of the senior semi-finals at Davy Brennan Memorial Park.

On St Patrick’s Day, goals by Adam Neely and Conor Greene helped Dungloe to a 2-8 to 0-8 win over Naomh Muire that qualified them for the weekend.

Naomh Conaill defeated Gaoth Dobhair last May in the Donegal final and the All-Ireland final was postponed because of weather before eventually being played in October, when they defeated Kilcar in Ardara.

In the first senior semi, at 3pm, Ardara take on Milford. Ardara saw off Glenswilly 3-6 to 3-4 to qualify while Milford have beaten Gaoth Dobhair and Termon to book their spot in Glenties.

Downings are the holders of the county and All-Ireland junior titles and they play Na Rossa at 4.30pm in the second junior semi with Naomh Conaill and Naomh Muire clashing at 1.30pm.

Four finals will be played on Monday, May 2 at Davy Brennan Memorial Park.
