Five Lifford-Strabane AC members on Ulster duty at Tailteann Games

Five Lifford Strabane AC athletes will this weekend represent Ulster at the annual Tailteann Games Interprovincial in Santry Stadium, Dublin.

Olivia Cuskelly and Aine Marie McBride (pictured), both coached by John O’Donnell, will compete on the Ulster Girls Hammer Throw team while Xavier McCann, coached by Damian Crawford, will compete on the Ulster Boys Javelin team.
Jude McCrossan, also coached by John O’Donnell, meanwhile will don the white vest of Ulster on the Ulster Boys Hammer Throw team.
Thomas Mullen will compete in the 400m Hurdles and 4 x 400m relay teams.
The Tailteann Games Interprovincial is for intermediate age group athletes and acts as a trial for the Irish Schools team for the SIAB Schools International which will this year be held in Dublin.
This is a great honour for this group of Lifford Strabane AC athletes and is all the more remarkable when one considers that both Jude McCrossan and Aine Marie McBride are both eligible for selection for the next 3 years while Olivia Cuskelly is again eligible for selection next year.
Hammer thrower, Brendan O’Donnell meanwhile was in England at the weekend flying the Lifford Strabane AC colours at the English u20 Championships in Bedford. Despite nursing a broken wrist, Brendan still managed a big final round throw of 63.74m to take an excellent 5th place overall. Brendan is underage for these Championships again next year.
