Finn Harps suffer double Boyle blow

FINN Harps have been rocked with the news that two prominent coaches are to leave their roles in the club.

Joe Boyle and Declan Boyle are to step down from their posts as managers of the Harps Under-19 and Under-17 teams.

The news comes as a blow given the recent success of Harps’ underage development.

Both men are former Harps players who had been in those positions since 2015.

Joe Boyle has previously served time with Republic of Ireland underage teams and had been interviewed for the Harps senior job in 2013, when Ollie Horgan was appointed.

School principal of Deele College in Raphoe, Joe Boyle had also looked after Finn Harps Reserves in the Ulster Senior League. However, he has been absent from the dugout for their last two USL outings.

Eloka Asokhu and Dessie McGlinchey had the reins for yesterday’s 2-2 draw at Letterkenny Rovers.

Declan Boyle had a successful spell as Harps’ Under-17 boss and his tenure included the 2018 season when his team won the SSE Airtricity Under-17 League and Mark Farren Cup double.
