Finn Harps in search of much-needed win as Horgan face Pat’s without key men

Finn Harps will look to stop the rot tonight when Ollie Horgan’s men host St Patrick’s Athletic at Finn Park, looking for their first win in seven games.

Harps defeated Pat’s 2-1 at Richmond Park earlier in the season, but have hit a recent slump and haven’t won since the 2-0 derby win over Derry City in March.

Harps have not won in their last six games in all competitions and have lost seven of their last eight, with just one goal since defeating Derry.

Barry Molloy’s strike in Friday’s 2-1 loss to Galway at Eamonn Deacy Park is Harps’ only goal in their last 548 minutes of football but, ahead of tonight’s clash with Pat’s (kick-off 8pm), Horgan is down a number of key bodies.

Kilian Cantwell and Ciaran O’Connor are both suspended having been booked five times so far in the season while Molloy (pictured) and Paddy McCourt are unavailable due to injury.

Both players had to be withdrawn on Friday night and will be absent from the squad tonight.

“We really tired towards the end in Galway so recovery is an issue with the Pat’s match coming just three days later,” Horgan said. “The season might not have great so far for Pat’s but they still some really top players going forward in Conan Byrne, Kurtis Byrne and Christy Fagan while Gavin Peers and Ian Bermingham are very experienced defenders.

“Liam Buckley will be looking for a win at Finn Park so even with a fully fit squad it would be very difficult for us to get a result. But, it’s again going to be a chance for younger players to come in and stake a claim for regular places.

Caolan McAllen is regarded as a doubt for Harps, who remain without the injured BJ Banda and Eddie Dsane.
