Finn Harps count cost of double injury blow from Derry win

FINN HARPS have been dealt with two injury blows following Friday night’s derby win over Derry City.

Harps’ 2-1 win, their first in the League over Derry since 1998, came at a price with Ollie Horgan, their manager, now counting the cost of injuries to Barry Molloy and Sean Houston.

Former Derry captain Molloy was a bluechip signing by Harps, his capture only officially confirmed by the club the day before the game, Horgan having teased the 33-year-old out of retirement.

Molloy jarred his knee in the first half of Friday’s game against his old club, but played on.

Just after Ryan Curran scored Harps’ second goal, Molloy was replaced by Raymond Foy.

Molloy will now be absent for ‘several weeks’ with the injury.

Houston’s night lasted only 19 minutes before a pulled hamstring led to his withdrawal and the initial indications are that the Letterkenny man will be sidelined for a month.

Curran, who doubled Harps’ lead following Dave Scully’s opener, sustained a dead leg but is expected to be fit for Friday night when Harps take on League champions Dundalk at Oriel Park.
