Everton boss Allardyce praises ‘superhuman’ Seamus Coleman

The Everton manager, Sam Allardyce, has described Seamus Coleman’s display on Wednesday night against Leicester as ‘almost superhuman’.

Coleman ended a 10-month injury lay-off with an inspired performance as Everton overcame the Foxes 2-1 at Goodison Park.

The Killybegs man, out since last March following a double leg break, was full of energy. The game was his first under Allardyce, who replaced Ronald Koeman during Coleman’s absence.

“I don’t go this far normally bit it was almost superhuman,” Allardyce said this morning.

“I’ve never seen anyone come back from 10 months out and perform for 90 minutes like that.

“I think the character of the man is a great example, for particularly the younger players at Everton

“When you can spirnt 80 yards in the 92nd minute with ball and the opposition players, who are playing every week, can’t catch up, that shows the tremendous capacity for the game that he has.

“It shows his mental strength. Mentally, he is very strong.

“It’s great to have him back. We have to make sure that we keep him fit and keep him in the team every week if we can.”

Everton are away to Arsenal tomorrow and Coleman will be assessed today before a decision is made on whether or not he will start.
