EIGHT Donegal footballers have been nominated for TG4 Ladies Football All-Star Awards.

Nicole McLaughlin, Ciara Hegarty, Tresea Doherty, Katy Herron, Deirdre Foley, Karen Guthrie, Geraldine McLaughlin and Yvonne Bonner are all listed among the 45 nominees.

It was a superb year for the Donegal ladies.

Having just missed out on a place in the knockout stage of the League, they went on to retain their Ulster SFC title and reached the county’s first ever senior semi-final.

They lost out to Cork in the semi-final at Dr Hyde Park, but 2018 will still go down as a wonderful year for the Tir Chonaill ladies.

Hegarty was an All-Star in 2017 and is one of seven players nominated again this time around.

The 2018 TG4 All Star team will be announced at a gala banquet at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday, December 1, along with the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Players’ Player of the Year award winners, the Provincial Young Players of the Year and the 2018 inductee into the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) Hall of Fame.

Senior champions Dublin, who made history by claiming back-to-back titles in front of a 50,141 attendance at Croke Park on September 16, lead the way with 14 nominations, while runners-up Cork are honoured with 12 players on the list.
