The first meet of the new season is held this Sunday, May 22nd, at Porthall, Lifford with the first race underway at 2.30pm.

Twelve-year-old Browne-McMonagle, from the Mountain Top, got an invite to spend time with legendary jockey AP McCoy after he came to prominance in August at the Dingle Racing Festival, where he rode three winners.

Aboard Lets Go, he won the Dingle Whiskey Distillery Race while he also led Lets Go to glory in the Dawn Milk Dingle Derby and he won the Barr Na Sráide Race on All About Chris.

Following his success in Dingle, Jonny Madderson from Just So Productions traveled to Ireland to put together a short film – Five Stone Of Lead – about Browne McMonagle, which is included below.

The film was posted online and caught McCoy’s eye.

Browne-McMonagle is one of a number of young jockeys to watch out for with Rathmullan’s Luke McAteer and Galway’s Rossa Ryan others to keep an eye on.
