Dunfanaghy Golf Club notes: Golfers take advantage of improvement in the weather

The weather improved on the weekend gone by and everyone took advantage of the dry spell

The course had dried out and all you had to do was play decent golf and the Christmas Hamper would be won. Well Thomas Rainey was the man who ticked all the boxes and won on Sunday. Well done Thomas, who is present on the golf course every weekend. See results below.

Christmas is fast approaching and we would like to update you on what’s happening here at the club in the run-up to the festive season.

Commencing on Tuesday the 1st December we will have a Christmas sale in the shop. All items of clothing, footwear etc. will be reduced, so if you would like to surprise someone with a gift from Dunfanaghy Golf Club this will be your chance to do so.

Copies of the Christmas fixtures will be posted on the notice boards in the Ladies and Gents locker rooms in the next week, take a copy and pass some on to your friends.

                                                              CHRISTMAS PARTY

Christmas Party night on Friday 11th December 2 course meal plus a glass of wine €15. Everyone welcome. Give Sarah a ring on 074 9136335/0860293719 by Wednesday 9th December to book your table. Join us for a great night’s craic.

This evening is open to everyone so if you would like to have your Christmas party at Dunfanaghy Golf Club you’re more than welcome. We can guarantee good food, good music and a night filled with Christmas cheer.  If you can’t make it for the meal come for the party.

James and Niall McCormick are traveling to Calcutta on the 4th March on a charity excursion with the hope foundation and their school.  On Friday 1st January they will hold a classic here at the club to help fund the trip and to make a significant donation to the charity. The boys would very much appreciate your support on the day.

Monday November 23rd is the next open senior’s competition. Saturday the 2nd January is the Captain’s drive-in. A sheet for names has been posted on the main notice board in the front foyer.  The format will be a four ball scramble and a draw for tees and teams will be made on Friday 1st January.

We have our chef, paddy in the clubhouse every Saturday and Sunday. He has received great praise for his food in the last two weeks. Make sure to give it a try. Also all the Rugby games/soccer games (SKY) will be shown in the clubhouse.

There are a number of competitions in the next week –

  •       Wednesday 25th of November 2015 – Open Singles Stableford (soup and Sandwiches)
  •       Saturday 28th of November 2015 –  Open singles Stableford competition
  •       Sunday 29th of November 2015 –  Gents Christmas turkey and Ham competition

Function Room for Private parties:

We have hosted a number of private functions in the clubhouse recently and these have proved to be a great success. If you, or someone you know, is organising a private function please be aware that the clubhouse is available free of charge, with exclusive use for the occasion.

So far, the feedback that we have been getting is that the golf club is the ideal venue for parties of up to one hundred people. Please make contact with Sarah if you are interested in holding a function at the clubhouse (074 91 36335)
