PLAYERS FROM DONEGAL LEAGUE champions Drumoghill FC are to toss the jerseys and don the gloves for a white collar boxing show on Sunday June 5th.

The event on Bank Holiday Sunday takes place at 8pm in the Silver Tassie Hotel at 8pm.

Tickets, priced at €20, are available from club members or admission can be paid at the door on the night.

In what promises to be a great night of entertainment several of Michael Lynch’s squad, who took the title back to The Moss for the first time in 21 years this season, will be in action.

Drumoghill captain Christopher O’Donnell is among those who’ll step into the squared circle.

Bouts have yet to be paired off but other players who’ll trade leather include Ray Quinn, Chris Malseed, Liam O’Donnell, Stephen O’Donnell, Gerard McGranaghan and Richard Moore.

It will be nothing new for McGranaghan, who is a former Ulster champion with Raphoe ABC, while John ‘Slugger’ Sweeney is another former ring ace on the bill having just returned from a spell in Canada.

Ronan Gibson from neighbours Lagan Harps is braving the local rivalry to get into the mix while others confirmed for the night include Stephen O’Donnell, Liam O’Hara, Cian Ryan, Georgie Blaney, Brian Doherty, Stephen McClintock, John Duncan and Elaine O’Donnell.

The boxers are currently undergoing a rigorous training regime under former Irish middleweight champion and ex-pro boxer Danny Ryan at Letterkenny ABC.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has agreed to take part in this, especially the players, who are just after a tough, long season,” Lynch told Donegal Sport Hub.

“It should be a cracking night of entertainment and people will definitely get value for money out of this.”

A signed Republic of Ireland jersey will be raffled at the interval and Lynch has paid tribute to the event sponsors: Voodoo Venue, Watson Hire, Patrick Lynch of LCL and Brian McCormick Sports & Leisure.

An after-party on the night will be held at Voodoo Venue.
