THE DRAWS HAVE BEEN made this morning for the 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.

Twin Towns BC light-flyweight Donna Barr will be in action on Saturday afternoon.

Barr, who is in her first campaign as a senior boxer, reached an Irish final at the end of 2015, when she was narrowly beaten by Lauren Hogan.

Now, the Twin Towns puncher will take on the experienced Canadian Kim Klavel in her opening bout at Barys Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan on Saturday.

The light-flyweight division is littered with class and includes two World Gold medallists in American Marlen Esparza, also an Olympic gold medallist, who has dropped from flyweight, and the Kazakhstan representative Nazy, Kyzaibay, the Gold medal winner in Jeju two years ago.

The winner from Barr’s bout with Klavel will take on Romanian Steluta Duta on Monday.

Meanwhile, former Finn Valley ABC star Austeja Auciute, now boxing for Lithuania, will be in action against a familiar face on Saturday.

Auciute is a nine-time Irish champion from her days with Finn Valley ABC, but has returned to box in her native Lithuania. At 64kgs, Auciute will meet Dubliner Kelly Harrington on Friday afternoon.
