DONNA BARR has won through to her first Irish Senior Elite Championship final.

The Twin Towns BC woman, who hails from Strabane, overcame Alexandra Kornaga in this evening’s semi-final at The National Stadium in Dublin.

Barr took a unanimos decision win to catapult herself into next Friday night’s final, where she’ll go toe-to-toe with Lauren Hogan from Edenderry.

The 22-year-old light flyweight was in control throughout the semi-final bout.

“She boxed the perfect fight,” Twin Towns BC coach Shane McHugh told Donegal Sport Hub.

“Kornaga kept pushing forward, but Donna was very slick in her movement and caught her every time. She was excellent.

“She deserves this after all her hard work.”

After winning a gold at the Celtic Box Cup in Waterford in September – when she beat Kornaga in the final – Barr won the Ulster Senior Championship by way of a walkover win.

Now, she’s chasing an Irish senior title, while Carrigart’s Maeve McCarron will also be in action on finals night, facing Diana Campbell (Garda) in the 81+kgs decider.
