Some of Donegal’s top stars to feature on Donegal Sports Talk tonight

We have a special edition of Donegal Sports Talk coming you way this evening – including one of Donegal’s top sports stars!

Donegal Sports Talk is the first joint venture between Donegal’s number 1 news website and Donegal’s top sports website following the recent announcement that the sites are joining forces.

Chloe Magee, Lee Henderson and Brett McGinty feature in episode three this evening.

Donegal Sports Talk is a new weekly podcast, which available for download on the iTunes platform and which will be available to listen to from 9pm.

We hear from Donegal’s only triple Olympian Chloe Magee. The Raphoe woman created history last weekend when she won the 23rd National badminton title of a career that began when, under the persuasion of her father, Sammy, she took up an offer to go to Sweden to play badminton instead of going to college, like many of her peers.

She talks to us about that victory, the memories of three Olympic Games and the pressures of her sport, from mental to financial to competitive, and how her career is embarking on a big change as she swaps women’s singles for mixed doubles.

The Donegal hurlers began their new season yesterday with a 2-23 to 1-14 win over Louth in Letterkenny. It is a new-look Donegal side this year, but one of the old guard, Lee Henderson, remains a central figure. The Sean MacCumhaills man spoke to Charlie Collins after the game.

St Johnston boxer Brett McGinty booked his place in his first ever Irish Elite final on Saturday night when he defeated Dubliner Peter Carr. The Oakleaf ABC puncher will meet Dean Walsh in Friday’s welterweight final in Dublin.

Donegal Sports Talk, presented by Chris McNulty and Charlie Collins, will be available at 9pm on Donegal Daily and Donegal Sport Hub.
