THE search for Donegal’s fastest children came to an exciting conclusion tonight at Finn Valley AC.

A packed out hall of teachers, qualifiers and parents came together to witness an exciting event in which split seconds made the difference between the top positions.

The qualifiers came out of numerous trials held in all corners of Donegal over the last 5 weeks, an initiative that was embraced by schools all throughout the county.

The overall big winners came from Scoil Colmcille Leitir Ceanainn and Sessiaghoneill, a school on the outskirts of Ballybofey and Glenswilly National School.

This is an initiative driven by the schools programme at Finn Valley which also includes Cross-Country, Sportshall and Track and Field; a programme which goes from strength to strength and engages in and around 85 schools.

Event Director Patsy McGonagle praised the development team at Finn Valley AC who continue to roll out an athletics opportunity per Ciara Kearns, Natasha Kelly and Mark Connolly, with support from Athletics Ireland Development Officer Dermot McGranaghan and of of course teachers and schools that engage who continue to provide the opportunity and encourage same
