WHEN DONEGAL WON Sam Maguire in 2012 by beating Mayo in the All-Ireland final, Laois official Maurice Deegan was on the referee.

This afternoon the GAA has confirmed that the Stradbally official will take charge of this Sunday’s Allianz Football League Division 1 semi-final between Donegal and Dublin.

The fixture will take place at Croke Park at 4pm on Sunday.

Deegan was also referee for the 2008 All-Ireland final when Tyrone defeated Kerry and was the man in the middle in February 2015 when Dublin beat Donegal 2-10 to 0-11 in Division 1.

That night Deegan sent off Kevin McManamon of Dublin for two yellow cards and black-carded Donegal captain Michael Murphy.
