Donegal Youth League dealt blow as club withdraws on eve of new season

THE DONEGAL YOUTH LEAGUE has been dealt a blow just days before the start of the new season with confirmation that one of its participants has withdraw.

Swilly Rovers, who were set to take on Fanad United this Saturday on the opening day of the new campaign, have confirmed to League officials that they will be unable to play.

Swilly were winners of the Colin Breslin Cup last season under the management of Tony McNamee.

Following McNamee’s departure from the position, Swilly could not find a replacement manager and have conveyed their decision to withdraw from the Youth League.

The news comes amid a turbulent week for Swilly, who yesterday confirmed the news that they had parted company with senior team manager Aaron Rogan after just 39 days.

Eight teams will now form this season’s Donegal Youth League.
