Donegal woman Natasha Kelly competes this weekend in the ETU European Sprint Duathlon Championships.

The Glencolmcille athlete jets out to Ibiza on Wednesday and races on Saturday.

“This is my first international race, so it will be great to see the standard out there and how I match up,” she said.

“It’s going to be fast and furious.”

The race consists of a 5km run, a 20km bike race and a 2.5km run to finish.

Natasha qualified by winning the female 20-24 Irish Duathlon title in July last year.

She was the overall winner of the duathlon series – a three-race event.

Earlier this year, Natasha won the female 25-29 Irish duathlon title and she’s only two-and-a-half years in the sport.

She races in the colours of Letterkenny 24/7 Triathlon Club but this week is part of the Triathlon Ireland squad for Ibiza.

On Sunday, she showed her talent when finishing third in the Donegal Novice Cross Country Championships and helping Finn Valley AC to a team bronze.

Natasha will have little time for after-race celebrations as she has a Saturday night flight to catch back to Ireland for another pressing engagement – she is the physio to the Gaoth Dobhair senior team who will contest the Donegal Senior Football Championship final in Ballybofey on Sunday.
