DONEGAL will face Tyrone in a Ulster SFC knock-out blockbuster in Ballybofey on Halloween weekend.
The GAA today confirmed the arrangements for the 2020 Championships.
The football championship will revert to a provisional knock-out format this year and there will be no qualifiers.
It means that for the first time in 20 years there will be no backdoor chance for beaten teams. It means that the Donegal-Tyrone quarter-final – slated for the weekend of October 31/November 1 – will be a winner-takes-all clash.
The Ulster final is pencilled in for November 22 and the All-Ireland final will take place on Saturday, December 19.
The GAA also confirmed that it will conclude the 2020 Allianz Football League with Tyrone set to visit Ballbofey twice in a three-week spell.
Donegal are set to face Tyrone on the weekend of September 17/18 in round six of their Division 1 schedule, while the following weekend will see Donegal travel to play Kerry in their final Division 1 game.
Inter-county teams are permitted to return to training from September 14.
Competition regulations dealing with venues, promotion/relegation and dates for games have yet to be finalised and will be finalised by the CCCC in the coming weeks.
Games in Provincial Championships will be week on week in many cases.
Finish on the Day (i.e. Extra Time, Penalties) to be introduced in all inter-county knock out games including, the All-Ireland Finals at all levels (Senior, U20, Minor etc.)*
Finish on the day for all inter-county competitions in 2020 will be: 2 x 10mins of extra time; if still level, straight to penalties (as per Central Council Regulations).
