Three Donegal boxers are chasing Irish Boy 1 titles at the National Stadium in Dublin tonight.

Letterkenny ABC’s Shane McConigley, Dungloe ABC’s Tiernan McRuairi and Oakleaf ABC’s Sean Deveneny, who hails from Ballybofey, are all gunning for glory.

McConigley meets Mark Moore-Long of Rathkeale in the Boy 1 52kgs final having already disposed of Paul McKernan of Emerald in his semi-final.

McRuairi squares off to Dylan McShane of St Paul’s in Antrim in the Boy 1 43kgs final. This week, McRuairi has beaten St Anne’s Padraig Corduff via a second round stoppage and Bell Elyaqout from O’Hanlon Park in a first round stoppage in the semi-final phase.

Devenney faces opposition in the form of Marcus Barrett (Olympic ABC) in the Boy 1 33kgs final.

Devenney has put Willie Delaney (Charleville) and Armandus Kreqzde (Avona) to the sword already. He is the son of boxing trainer Eunan Devenney.

Another Devenney, Cathair, was narrowly edged on a 3-2 split in a Boy 2 semi-final by David Geoghegan of Olympic Mullingar.

Jack Harkin of Letterkenny ABC lost via a unanimous decision to Ashton Ruth of Cabra in the Boy 2 31kgs semi-final.

Also this week, Josh Clarke (Carndonagh), Rory McDaid (Illies) and John McDonagh (Raphoe) were beaten in Boy 1 semis at 29kgs, 31kgs and 50kgs by Scott Thompson from Spartans, Josh Fauaudon of St Margaret’s and Knockmore Fox’ Lucas Kenny respectively.

Elsewhere, in the Boy 1 preliminaries at 35kgs, Dunree’s Matthew Carlin lost out to Olympic’s Thomas Ward.

This morning, Dunfanaghy’s Bernie McDonagh faces Che Devine in a Boy 3 semi-final at 44.5kgs.
