IT SLIGO won a National Colleges League title in basketball last week – and they had a strong Donegal contingent to thank.

At the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght, the Brian McHugh-managed IT Sligo overcame DIT 78-63 in the Men’s Division Three final.

Malonda and Muldoon combined for 50 points with Muldoon, who is the Donegal Town Nets captain, chosen as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

DIT got off to a hot start with three baskets from their first three possessions including triples from Ciaran Hollywood and James Twamley.
However, Sligo were back on par by the end of the first quarter and went on a game changing run in the second with  Muldoon and  Malonda the central figures.

Muldoon was described by one experienced National League Coach as an ‘exceptional player’.
