DONEGAL HAS 12 new Ulster 9 Counties champions after yesterday’s finals in the Halfway House in Burnfoot.

Donegal was already guaranteed six champions by walkovers, but another six took wins in the ring yesterday.

Jordan Saville from Dungloe stopped Dylan McCullagh of Omagh in the Boy 1 39kgs final, while Raphoe’s Liam Crawford made light work of St Joseph’s, Derry, puncher Cian Duddy in the Boy 1 44kgs decider.

Illies Golden Gloves man Tiarnan Moran secured a title for the host club as he took a unanimous decision win over Charles McDonagh from Cookstown to take the Boy 1 48kgs title.

Dunfanaghy ABC’s Odhrán Doogan overcame Craig Lawrenece in the Boy 2 44kgs final and there was an impressive triumph for Letterkenny ABC’s Paddy McShane.

In the Boy 3 36kgs final, McShane defeated Reece Marshall of All Saints, but there was disappointment for McShane’s club-mates Michael Connor, Owen Ward and Michael O’Donnell.

O’Connor lost the Boy 3 33kgs final to Oisin Mulholland from East Down, Ward was beaten by Shane Stokes from St John’s in the Boy 3 42kgs final while O’Donnell lost out to Omagh’s Jack Donnelly at Boy 3 52kgs.

Oisin Wallace from Dungloe was pipped to the Boy 2 46kgs crown by St John’s man Peter Convery.

Twin Towns woman Alana Sweeney was edged out by Chloe Toal of Emerald in the Girl 3 44kgs final and Liam McMonagle from Raphoe had to settle for silver in the Boy 3 50kgs division after a defeat to Corey McLaughlin from Errigal.

Donegal also took six titles by way of walkover wins: Boy 1 46kgs – Adam Boyle (Dungloe); Girl 2 46kgs – Ciara McMenamin (Twin Towns); Boy 2 57kgs – Pauric O’Donnell (Dungloe); Girl 3 48kgs – Chloe McDaid (Illies Golden Gloves); Girl 3 52kgs – Leah Gallen (Finn Valley); Girl 3 70kgs – Shannon Tiffoney (Bundoran).
