THREE Donegal teams will take part in this year’s Marcron Galway Cup, which kicks off on Wednesday morning.

The Donegal Schoolboys Under-13s (pictured above) will vye for honours in the 2002 Elite section with Kildrum Tigers Under-13s in action in the 2002 Boys section and Finn Harps compete in the 2000 Club grade.

The Kevin McHugh-managed Donegal Schoolboys side will be aiming to bounce back from the disappointment of their Foyle Cup final defeat to Waterford Schoolboys.

After a one-all draw, Donegal lost out 4-3 on penalties, a year after defeating the same opposition in the 2014 decider.

Back in May, Donegal won the SFAI National Cup when Finian O’Donnell’s goal handed them a 1-0 win over Waterford in Cahir, County Tipperary.

The Galway Cup is a prestigious competition with Leeds United and Northern Ireland among the front runners in that 2002 Elite grade, which includes Japanese side Kyoto.

McHugh’s side have been drawn alongside North Dublin Schoolboys League, Galway and the West Waterford East Cork representative team.

Kildrum Tigers (pictured above), under the management of Russell Porter and Shane Porter, take part for the first time.

The Tigers have assembled a strong panel with the likes of captain Shane Coyle, Ryan McCarron and Anton Murtagh among their stars.

The St Johnston side have American outfit Colorado Rapids for company in their group. They play Colorado on Thursday afternoon after an opening game against Clare on Wednesday.
