Donegal SFC tie postponed as players in self-isolation

written by Chris McNulty September 1, 2020

A GAME in the Donegal senior football championship has been postponed as players in a competing team are self-isolating.

Players from the Termon GAA club are self-isolating at the moment due to contact with a person – not a club member – who tested positive for Covid-19.

Termon had announced a precautionary suspension on Friday.

While that has now been lift and activity has resumed in the club, due to the self-isolation of some senior players, Friday’s relegation play-off semi-final between Termon and Milford has been postponed.

“Following consultations with officials from Ulster Council and Croke Park, the Donegal CCC have been asked to re-fix any ties involving self-isolating players if this can be done without unduly disrupting the Michael Murphy Sports Championship schedule,” the Donegal CCC said.

“With this in mind the CCC have postponed the relegation semi-final between Termon and Milford.

“This game was scheduled for the Donegal GAA Centre on Friday evening. It is now postponed until the weekend of the 11th 12th, 13th of September.”

The other relegation semi-final between Ardara and Dungloe will go ahead on Friday evening at 8.30pm at the Donegal GAA Centre.

Kilmacrennan Celtic FC also suspended activity, including training and matches, on Friday and remain closed until further notice.

Yesterday, Illistrin FC became the latest club to halt activities with immediate affect.

The club said: “One of our players has informed the club that they have been advised that they need to have a Covid Test done.

“We sincerely send best wishes to the player and their family and hope that the test will come back negative.”
