Donegal players help Club NI defeat Donegal at SuperCup NI

CARRIGANS DUO Charlie White and Adam Green were in the Club NI team that defeated County Donegal 2-1 today at the SuperCup NI.

Centre-back White, (above), who plays for Glentoran, and left-back Green, who lines out for Derry Colts, were in the Club NI side that took the spoils in a game played at Clough, Ballymena in the Junior Section of the competition, formerly known as the Milk Cup.

White scored for Club NI yesterday in a 2-1 loss to County Down after they were beaten 3-0 by Sheffield United on the opening day.

County Donegal, managed by Conor McCullagh, began with a 0-0 draw against Southampton before losing 5-2 against Sheffield United yesterday.

This afternoon, Aaron Brown headed Club NI ahead after just seven minutes, but Jack O’Donnell riffled home from 15 yards for County Donegal.

However, Club NI regained a lead they’d hold to the finish when a mix-up in the box saw a cross deflect off a Donegal defender into the net.

Donegal’s Rory O’Donnell hit the crossbar, Jack Park had an effort blocked and Gabriel Aduaka also went close, but Club NI – with White and Green in their rearguard – held out for the win.

Both teams will be back in action tomorrow in the competition.
